The beginning of a new year is a particularly inauspicious time to begin a new blog. In keeping with this tradition, it is customary for a first post to announce what sort of writing readers may look forward to, and to reaffirm the author’s intent to provide regular updates.
I have no such intent. My plan is to consolidate bits of thought that I often find myself communicating, but posts are unlikely to be regular. As for the subject(s), I expect this blog to mostly contain a collection of some of my favourite rants and ramblings about how great/terrible/interesting certain things are, interspersed with the occasional practical or scientific post.
I will avoid christening a blog that may well die in infancy, but if it did have a name, that name would be “ph6” (which is due to Sam Clarke). Like the chemical scale,1 the precise meaning of this name is more interesting left unexplained, and is not especially important anyway.
- At the time of writing, no-one knows what the “p” in “pH” stands for. ↩︎
